Because it really does take a village.
Our well-respected childcare services go above and beyond the basic caring for a child. St John’s Community Care focuses on building relationships of trust with families, offering consistent and skilled educators, and providing children a warm, safe and engaging environment at our range of world-class childcare centres.
The Redlynch Day Care Centre in suburban Cairns and the Taigum Child Care Centre in Brisbane are both not- for-profit centres that aim to provide an extension of each child’s family setting. In previous years, these centres have offered an average of 150,000 hours of care to the community annually.
Fostering endless fun, discovery and learning.
Our trained staff place importance on a warm approach and a focus on community while supporting a child’s development, health and safety. Their passion is evident from an initial meeting, but also in the increasing occupancy rates of our childcare centres, consistent positive feedback and word-of-mouth referrals.
We are proud to have some of the industry’s best educators employed at our centres. These educators come from a wide range of cultural backgrounds including Japanese, Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, Indian, Scottish and Brazilian and they embed some of their cultural knowledge within their rooms to enhance the children’s learning. The centres allow children to investigate both the similarities and differences between people, building the foundation for future leaders by shaping their knowledge and understanding of multiculturalism and diversity.
Our educational programs also support and foster natural curiosity and play experiences. The Redlynch centre has three gardens, based on the themes of ‘frog’, ‘fairy’ and ‘bird and sunflower,’ which provide a platform for inquiry and exploration. Meanwhile, the Taigum Child Care has erected specialised cubby houses, teepees and mud kitchens all made of natural materials. Our educators use role modelling to teach children how to respect and care for their natural environment through hands-on activities such as watering, weeding and counting critters.
