St John’s is proud to announce that construction of the Elderly Parent Carer Innovation Trial (EPCIT) houses officially commenced today with the turning of the sod ceremony.
The project aims at providing accessible housing options to people with disabilities who have ageing parents.
On the 5th February 2016, the Turning of the Sod ceremony took place at the St John’s Community Care Highleigh Road, Gordonvale. The ceremony commenced with a blessing by Father Menelaos, followed by an address from the Chairperson, Mr Theo Bacalakis. The ceremony was then handed over to the Honourable Curtis Pitt, QLD Treasurer and State Member for Mulgrave who turned the sod at the construction site.
Following the ceremony the clients of the Young Lifestyle Care Facility, dignitaries and visitors enjoyed a sumptuous morning tea.
