St John’s is proud to announce that construction of the Elderly Parent Carer Innovation Trial (EPCIT) houses officially commenced this month with the turning of the sod ceremony.
The project aims at providing accessible housing options to people with disabilities who have ageing parents.
The Turning of the Sod ceremony took place at the St John’s Community Care on 241 Church Road, Taigum. The ceremony commenced with a blessing by Father Dimitri, followed by an address from the Chairperson, Mr Theo Bacalakis. The ceremony was then handed over to the Hon. Stirling Hinchcliffe QLD Minister for Transport and Minister for the Commonwealth Games and the Hon. Coralee O’Rourke, Minister for Disability Services who turned the sod at the construction site.
Following the ceremony community members, dignitaries and staff enjoyed a sumptuous morning tea.
