No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted, because when we GIVE HAPPY we LIVE HAPPY.
St John’s Community Care believes that volunteering is the heart of community building and contributes to sustainable human development and acknowledges the valuable contribution of its volunteers.
St John’s Community Care celebrated National Volunteer Week on the 15th of May 2015. Oni Vuniyaro, the Services Coordinator of FNQ Volunteers (a former civil servant and diplomat with the Fijian Government) was the Guest Speaker for the event. Oni stated that according to a National Survey Report, volunteers are the happiest people living. He also reminded the audience that we all must find the time to give freely and joyfully because when we “Give happy we live happy”. The pre-schoolers from the Redlynch Daycare Centre came dressed in costumes of different professions depicting that we have people from all walks of life volunteering their time and energy and the children performed for the song “You are Beautiful” by One Direction. The beautiful little ones also made Thank You cards for all the volunteers that brought an instant smile to everyone present. Rebecca Drollinger a volunteer with St John’s sang a song about how all volunteers are like angels doing God’s work. The Chairperson of St. John’s Community Care, Theo Bacalakis thanked all our volunteers for invaluable work they do for the organisation and for choosing our organisation to share their humanity.
All the members of the Management team were also present on the occasion celebrating Volunteer’s Week as important day of the St. Johns calendar year.
